Dear: Greetings from the National Engineers Week Future City Competition. I trust you are the Jason Hauska that participated in the 1999 Future City Competition from Ida Middle School. The Nolan/Lehr Group is the public relations consultant for Future City. For the past few years we have been locating students from Future City teams who won regional competitions and went to Washington for nationals. We'd like to determine what kind of influence the competition has had on your education and your life. We use the information we receive to highlight student achievements at the national competition luncheon and at our web site, www.futurecity.org, and use quotes in Future City marketing and fundraising efforts. In the 2003-04 school year there will be 36 regional competitions and in 2002-03, more than 1,000 schools participated. As an alumnus of the Future City Competition, we'd very much appreciate if you could answer the questions below and send them back to me via email. 1. How old are you now? 2. Where do you go to school or intend to go to school? 3. What's your major? 4. What kind of career are you considering? 5. How did the Future City Competition influence your current educational pursuits or career goals? 6. What were some of the important lessons you learned from Future City? 7. What did you learn about engineering from Future City? 8. What was something that you learned from Future City that you did not consider to be important at the time but since has become significant to you? 9. What advice would you give to a 7th or 8th grader just now entering the competition? 10. (Optional) Anything else to share about your Future City experience? Thanks in advance for responding to this, and good luck with your education and future career. All the best, Donald Lehr The Nolan/Lehr Group, Inc. tel 212 967 8200 fax 212 967 7292 dblehr@cs.com dlehr@futurecity.org
